Ribbon and fabric trim were used for centuries and extensively during the 1700 and 1800’s.   It was used on garments, hats, purses, and more.  But it doesn’t just have to be reserved for historical costumes.  Use it to add a subtle or flamboyant decoration to everyday and special garments and accessories.

In this class, we will:

  •         Look at the historical use of ruffles, knife pleats, and box pleats.
  •         Practice making knife pleats, box pleats, and multiple variations.
  •         Discuss how to choose what ribbon and what ribbon trim pattern to use in different applications.

Source information to learn additional trims and find materials will be provided, as well as all the satin and grosgrain ribbon you will need to practice the patterns.
