Marriage a la Mode
In celebration of our exhibition Mother Was the Bride, Lacis presents an extraordinary wedding and special-occasion faire devoted to avant-garde expression, one-of-a-kind artistry, bohemian craftsmanship, and timeless romance.
Designed for your unique coupling adventure — whether hand-clasping, jumping the broom, marking a civil union, or inventing a ceremony entirely your own — this event celebrates love beyond tradition.
Meet talented independent artists creating breathtaking jewelry, bespoke and luxurious perfumes, veils of every description, and eye-catching ceremonial adornments. Alongside these makers, Lacis will offer selections from our own collections, including antique lace, vintage wedding dresses, orange blossom garlands, modern veils, and rare adornments steeped in history.
Vendors from across the Bay Area include Dark Garden, Glitter Done, Holly Bobisuthi, Rachael Heiman, Studio Trousseau, and LeLi Studio.
Throughout the day, guests will enjoy demonstrations and moments of inspiration — a rare opportunity to explore meaningful pieces for life’s most beautiful moments.
For the bohemian bride, the alt couple, the fairy-festival romantic — we’ve got you covered.

Our Mission
To PRESERVE the spirit of Lacis as created by Kaethe Kliot, a place of support, knowledge, and encouragement for those involved in the textile arts.
To MAINTAIN the collection of Kaethe and Jules Kliot, comprised of the lace, historical dress, and textiles from all periods, including the patterns and tools of creation, the objects of their purpose, and the literature associated with these objects.
To EDUCATE through exhibits, workshops, and classes the techniques and history of lace, dress, and the textile arts.
To INSPIRE, through our efforts, makers of all skill levels, to explore and appreciate traditional techniques, experiment with historic patterns, and create their own textile treasures.
