Repurposing Lace Treasures invites you into the luminous world of Normandy lace — a late-19th-century French practice in which lace makers transformed cherished remnants into expansive new works. Fragments of bobbin lace, needle lace, embroidered net, whitework embroidery, and more — sometimes centuries old — were arranged into breathtaking patchwork compositions.
These creations, whether bedspreads, garments, or decorative panels, embody ingenuity, resourcefulness, and deep reverence for the past. Surrounded by Lacis Museum's exceptional collection, visitors can experience firsthand how preservation and thrift blossomed into an art form all its own.
