SUMMARY:Nuryev Doublet Week
DESCRIPTION:This is a 5-day class\, 7/13 – 7/17\, 10 AM – 4 PM. \nThe “Nureyev” doublet was designed specifically for full range of motion and elegance. The Premier Danseur always insisted on using the highest quality materials for the costumes of his dance company. In this class\, students will learn how to design\, cut\, fit\, and build a dancer’s doublet worthy of the Nureyev legacy. \nPREREQUISITE: Intermediate to advanced sewing skills. You must have sewing skills\, have made a garment from a pattern in the past\, be able to follow pattern instructions\, and have a portable sewing machine.  Please come with the body measurements for your doublet. \nSUPPLY LIST: Materials:   \n\n1.5 yards medium weight fashion (your choice); brocade\, taffeta\, satin\, velvet or combination. If mixing fabrics\, it’s recommended to use brocade and velvet or satin or taffeta. It is not recommended combining velvet with taffeta or satin.\n\n\n 1.5 yards medium weight cotton muslin Matching thread\n\n\nSeparating metal zipper 12″-14″ OR\n\n\nhook and eye tape (whichever is your preferred closure)\n\n\nDesired trim\n\n\nFabric shears\n\n\nMatching double fold bias tape\n\n\nHand sewing needles (sharps)\n\n\n8 #2 hooks and eyes\n\n\n 2 yards 1/4″ matching OR contrasting piping.\n\n\nBespoke piping is also encouraged.\n\n
