Learn to make two different leaves and a vine of leaves using wired and unwired ribbon. Then take the same processes used to make those leaves to make flowers and buds, including a lily, poinsettia, and chrysanthemum.

PREREQUISITES: Students should have basic hand-sewing skills: securing thread, running stitch, backstitch, etc.

Kit: $15, please bring cash

Kit Contents:

  •         Ribbons,
  •         Crinoline,
  •         Cardboard ribbon ruler,
  •         10 of my favorite silk pins,
  •         Printed instructions (or softcopy, if requested)
  •         Printed list of sources for ribbons and patterns (or softcopy, if requested)

 Tools and Materials to Bring:

  •         Basic sewing kit
  •         Sewing pins.
  •         Needles.  I like milliners’, but any medium-sized needle will work.
  •         Fabric scissors
  •         Craft scissors
  •         White and medium green thread. I like quilters’ thread, but any strong thread works well.
  •         Straight edge like a 6” ruler.
  •         FrayCheck
  •         Two different colored permanent ink writing pens.
  •         Pen and paper for notes.
  •         Magnification device (optional)
