Taming of Multitudes of Threads
September 26th, 2009 - Frbruary 1st, 2010
Opening Reception: September 25th, 6:00-9:00 pm
Bobbin lace, seemingly inherent in the nature of man, has remained vital for over 500 years,
the technique permeating virtually every culture and becoming synonymous with the term lace making itself.
The manipulation of unlimited threads, evolving simultaneously among all cultures,
each accepting this logic and translating it into their own vision has given bobbin lace today a most extraordinary place in the world of textile expression.
The two simple motions, generally noted as “twist” and “cross” is the soul of all bobbin lace,
transcending time, culture and materials with its execution extending into every stage of life.
